This video is going to be all about common business degrees and business majors that you can pursue and which ones I think are the best

When it comes to business degrees a lot of your success is going to be outside of the degree that you choose
Networking, skills, internships, work experience, the university or college that you attend, what industry you go into etc are important with all degrees, but they’re especially important when it comes to business careers
So this video was really tough to make because there are so many external factors outside of just the numbers
Business is also changing quickly and degrees that were amazing 20 years ago might not be nearly as good now
But I spent a lot of time researching for this video and I found a few things that I think are really important
There are a few things that pop up over and over again that will definitely help you to make the best choice when it comes to choosing your college degree
Business degrees as a whole tend to be a little risky and are very boom or bust
You could end up working a boring office job or you could end up as the vice president of a fortune 500 company
Overall, the numbers show that business degrees tend to do pretty well though and they’re generally a good choice
Some of them are better than others though, especially considering that we are moving into the age of automation
As always, this is just my opinion, so make sure to do your own research.
Enjoy!

“Helping Service Providers Find Those in Need of Care”
848-444-9865
In this week’s episode of A Drink With “The Hurricane,” we are continuing our discussion on networking events and proper etiquette for those referrals we are all after. Our Home Care marketing tip is all about touring. If you’ve ever been at an event, there is usually a moment when the host speaks to the group and asks if anyone wants a tour at the conclusion of the event. Then when the event ends, I am shocked to see that only 2-3 people out of 30-50 actually stick around to take a tour. Most people, network and then leave without even thinking to take a tour.
Now, I know you may be thinking, “I’ve already gone on a tour of this place, how will it benefit me?” The question you really SHOULD be asking is, “Am I currently getting referrals from this account?” I’m going out on a limb here and say, “No you’re not,” (I’m right, aren’t I?) and that’s the reason you need to tour. Have you met everyone who works there yet? Do you know what to say to each person at that account and how to position yourself for referrals? Did you schedule time to come back for 1-on-1 follow up? All these things, and more, are things that need to happen during a tour.
Let’s take scheduling a time to come back for a 1-on-1, for example. It’s hard to follow up with people and get them to commit to something. This is where it’s essential that you take the time to schedule that 1-on-1 time while you’re there. It’s simple. After the tour, or near the end of the tour when you go by their office, ask for a time to come back. Suggest pulling up their calendar if they say they are busy. What are they going to say? “I don’t have my calendar.” They can’t, you’re in their office.
Now you’re going to need a reason to come back, of course, and have something to talk about. One thing that’s really easy to talk about, is having them host an event and collaborate on it together. They obviously do this often, hence why you’re there in the first place, and it’s something you should be doing periodically, so it just makes sense. You are there for a networking meeting and don’t have all day to set this up now, so scheduling the 1-on-1 follow up to plan it out works for the both of you. Now the host is interested in seeing you again, while you have an appointment for follow up.
That’s making the most of your networking time. You took the time to drive there and meet all these individuals. Now take that extra 15-20 minutes to start working with the host site and grow your business.
I can spend countless hours talking about networking and getting referrals from events, but think about what I said here, and what was shown to you in the video above. If you need help with what to say, how to say it, and what the next steps are, then I strongly suggest you sign up for Team Hurricane right now, as there will be a webinar exclusively for members in April on all things Networking events and getting those precious Home Care Referrals. Get the tools necessary to dominate your market place and blow away the competition!!! Video Rating: / 5

Researchers estimate that 50 percent of purchases are unplanned. These purchases, especially impulse buys, present an opportunity for retailers who can entice consumers to deviate from their shopping lists.
One of the most effective ways to influence this is through a store’s architecture. In the 20th century, the architect Victor Gruen, who pioneered the first American shopping malls, used light and space to dramatically stage goods in storefront windows. His designs were meant to capture the attention of passersby — and convert them into customers. This conversion became known as the “Gruen effect.”
Watch the video above to learn how Ikea has mastered the Gruen effect with a carefully designed store layout that gets customers to travel further distances… and buy more.
For the curious, here are a few links:
Read Jeffrey Inman’s research on unplanned spending: http://www.advancingretail.org/sites/default/files/resources/The-Effect-of-In-Store-Travel-Distance-on-Unplanned-Spending.pdf

And finally, I recommend reading Victor Gruen’s biography, “Mallmaker” by Jeffrey Hardwick. You can also learn more by listening to this 99% Invisible podcast episode that features Hardwick and details the history of the Gruen effect: https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/the-gruen-effect/

I believe that opportunity knocks more than once, but it doesn’t knock often. One definition of luck is preparation meeting opportunity. However without action luck doesn’t have may not be enough. So be prepared and ready to take action when you are presented with an opportunity. Video Rating: / 5
Explanation of the idiom “Opportunity only knocks once “.
The brand of English that I speak is a very neutral American accent. Many people around the world have told me that my English is easy to understand. I think if you can adjust to hearing my English, you can understand most Hollywood movies.
I strongly recommend that you play my videos and listen to them in a relaxed way while doing housework, or lying. Just let it come into your ears while you are thinking about other stuff.
When I was a child, I did not have to figure out English. People spoke around me, and I just learned it.
Also, remember that it takes a looong time, so you need to look at it long term. If you have been studying for 5 years, that is commendable, but if you think about it, it is not much time to learn a language. A five year old native child doesn’t have a very big vocabulary and cannot really speak very well, and a 10 year old, cannot read, or write very well, even though they are a prime age to learn. So, give it time.
Also, I want to talk about shadowing. To listen, and repeat what you hear in my videos, or other videos will be extremely useful in creating the mind-muscle connection in forming your mouth around the words.
This channel is primarily for ESL and EFL students who want to learn idioms. I will teach primarily American English idioms, as these are the ones I know. I will do it in a conversational way as if we are having an English lesson face-to-face. I intentionally do not have noisy intros or outros to my videos because I think one of the best ways to learn a language is when you are not really paying close attention. I think if you take my playlists and loop them while you are sleeping, at a low volume, you will program your brain to hear natural English. This is better than a CD because I am just talking to you, as if I were talking to a friend. I am not performing, or changing my English, so you can get used to hearing standard American English as it is spoken among native speakers. Ok, I simplify it a little, in that I am not using as many idioms in a row, as I would if I were just chatting with a native speaker, but that is just so you won’t be overwhelmed.

The next time you visit someone elderly or vulnerable, ask yourself: could they be a victim of fraud or scams?
Scams are fraud and fraud is crime – this is the message that Sussex Police is sending for the start of this year’s Scams Awareness Month.
During July, Sussex Police is running a range of partnership activities for the force’s well established Operation Signature campaign. This includes the launch of a new video which encourages people to spot the signs of fraud and scams when they visit those who may be vulnerable.
The video urges viewers to contact Sussex Police on 101 or via www.sussex.police.uk if they think someone vulnerable is a victim.
In Sussex, those over 65 are especially at risk of being targeted by fraudsters. During the month, Sussex officers, staff and volunteers are joining forces with Trading Standards, the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner and her Elders’ Commission, Neighbourhood Watch and Adult Social Care for a range of preventative measures including:
The launch of the video at a Knowledge Lab partnership event in West Sussex, including the performance of a scams play by local students.
For a full calendar of public events, click on the following link: http://www.sussex.police.uk/media/3626/external-events-template.pdf
Detective Chief Inspector Tracy Edwards, lead for Operation Signature, said: “We need to break down the misconceptions which surround the word ‘scam’, that it’s a minor thing and it doesn’t cause damage.
“A scam is a crime that can cause immeasurable pain to the victim. People can lose huge sums of money to clever and manipulative scams and frauds, and that’s not the only cost.
“In Sussex, we see some of our most vulnerable residents losing huge sums of money, but also their confidence, security and relationships with family and those close to them.
“Our new video helps people see the warning signs, which can sometimes be subtle. If you think someone is being targeted and they are elderly or vulnerable call Sussex Police on 101. All others should contact Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk.
“You can also spend some time with friends and family to help them improve their security. Simple steps like installing anti-virus software, using a call blocker device and displaying a ‘no cold caller’ sticker can make a huge difference.”
Katy Bourne, Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, said: “Scams are fraud and fraud is a crime that can ruin some people’s lives. The criminals that perpetuate them often target vulnerable people, including older residents, who may be more trusting and less “tech savvy”.
“Last year my Elders Commission talked to thousands of Sussex residents who highlighted real concerns about the potential scale of hidden or un-reported crime against our older citizens.
“Falling for scams was a recurrent theme and we heard about an older resident who was ‘romanced’ out of his savings and also a 92 year old conned into handing over £69,000 supposedly to help a neighbour.
“My Elders’ Commission lifted the lid on older citizens’ concerns about crime and revealed that some people are being exploited and intimidated simply because their age and isolation makes them more vulnerable. That’s why I am campaigning for the crime of Elder Abuse to be made an aggravated offence in line with racially or religiously motivated offences.”
About Operation Signature
The force’s Operation Signature programme identifies and protects vulnerable victims of fraud and scams, as well as preventing these crimes through a number of measures. This includes uniformed visits to those most vulnerable to offer advice and support, supplying trueCall blockers (www.truecall.co.uk) to those plagued by nuisance calls and a campaign including information and training videos.
The team works with banks and other financial institutions and statutory and voluntary partners to improve processes and protect and support the most vulnerable. The programme also shares best practice with other UK forces.
Top tips to avoid fraud and scams
Remember: banks and police will never call or email and ask you to transfer funds to a new account, collect your cards from your home, ask you to buy high value goods and never ask you to hand over cards or money.
Keep your money safe with these tips:
Check people are who they say they are. Not sure? Don’t open the door!
Never send or give money to people you don’t know or trust
Remember to protect your identity – don’t share your personal information with unexpected callers
Beware of email and computer scams. Treat all emails from unknown senders with suspicion and never click on links within them
Never share your PIN number or enter your PIN into a telephone
If in doubt, phone a relative, friend or someone you know personally. Video Rating: / 5
